What exactly is
Nutritional Therapy?
In modern society, many of the current health problems result from weaknesses in the body’s physiological foundations brought on by poor nutrition. Nutritional Therapy has a holistic perspective on health, looking at the body as a whole functioning unit rather than the sum of its parts. It is not one-size-fits all approach, it is highly bio-individual, meaning specific to you and your body’s needs. Indeed, our bodies are uniquely designed with an innate intelligence and ability to heal themselves if we give them the proper nourishment and support the remaining foundations of health to do so. Whole person wellness involves health not only in terms of what foods we consume, but encompasses 5 other crucial aspects in maintaining balance (homeostasis) in our body’s chemistry: Digestion, Blood Sugar Regulation, Fatty Acids, Mineral Balance and Hydration.

Like the spokes of a bicycle wheel, each aspect of wellness supports and depends on the others. If you break one spoke, then it breaks the entire structure of homeostasis and our body will start sending us signals in the form of unwanted symptoms such as: weight gain, brain fog, fatigue, hormonal imbalances, skin issues and many more. Symptoms are just the messengers of imbalances in the body. (Nutritional Therapy Association, 2020)

NUTRITION
Real food builds real health. The ultimate foundations of vibrant health are deeply rooted in a diet rich in nutrient-dense, properly prepared whole foods which support the body’s physiological functions. Remember: Calories ≠ Nutrients!
DIGESTION
You are what you absorb! While eating a nutrient-dense diet is crucial, our bodies must actually absorb the nutrients we consume to benefit from them.
BLOOD SUGAR BALANCE
What goes up, must come down! Balanced blood sugar levels provide stable energy, reduce stress on the body and enable metabolic pliability.

The Foundations of Health
FATTY ACIDS
Most fats are your friends. Healthy fats help with consistent energy, satiety, hormonal balance and help regulate our inflammatory response.
MINERAL BALANCE
The body’s spark plugs. Minerals help facilitate many key body processes, help build bones and facilitate in balancing hormones
HYDRATION
Water is life & life is water. Water is the most important macronutrient required for multiple body functions.
