It was yet another busy afternoon on a typical corporate workday in New York City. After a long day overpacked with meetings, I was about to attend a presentation with one of the most important clients, drinking my third Starbucks 20oz coffee for the day (after all, this seemed to be the only remedy for my pulsating headache and debilitating fatigue after getting only three hours of sleep). Before walking into the client’s office, I felt my energy levels rapidly tanking and the jitteriness setting in, realizing that a banana was all I had eaten so far that day. All I could think about was how soon I could get to a chocolate chip muffin. My stomach was a wreck from all the coffee, anxiety, and stress. Only a few minutes into the meeting, after getting stares from my stomach rumbling so loudly, I felt intense, razor-like cramping and knew I needed to get to the bathroom immediately. But with 40 minutes left to go, excusing myself was not an option. But despite forcing myself to suffer through the pain, there were soon beads of sweat running down my forehead, followed by an intense and uncontrollable shivering. Needless to say, soon no one was focused on the presentation anymore as I was now the center of attention, and a colleague rushed to help me to a cab home.  Apart from feeling very unwell, I felt extremely embarrassed:


I was in my 20s, why was my body failing me already? This was the defining moment in my health journey when I knew something had to change.

Hey there, I am Ekat

and here is how my journey to vibrant wellness began...​ 

We often think we can escape the laws of nature despite pushing our limits too far, burning the candle on both ends and never taking time to replenish our depleted reservoirs. What I learned throughout my journey though is that the body and the mind keep score...The truth is this wasn't the first time my body had started sending me big, loud, red warning signs that it had enough of this go-getter lifestyle: running at a million miles an hour, drinking at least 3 Starbucks Venti coffees a day, gulping down any meal in no more than 5 minutes (if I even remembered to eat) and if I got more than 4 hours of sleep a night, I’d call it a success. 

A success, by whose definition?!

After that defining New York City afternoon moment, I started looking for solutions going from doctors office to doctors office with no progress or resolution offered whatsoever. Indeed, the physical tolls from my chronic toxic lifestyle were numerous and conventional medical treatment offered nothing more than “band-aid” approaches which treated the symptom but not the root cause. Yes, conventional medicine failed to help me -

I was misdiagnosed and my symptoms ignored or brushed away which led to many years of suffering.

After conventional medicine failed to provide any solutions, I decided to pursue and explore alternative holistic medicine solutions. Working closely with my functional practitioners on reclaiming my health, my learning curve was steep and my intense interest in restoring my body's healthful balance became a burning passion that led me to pursue a Holistic Health Coach Certification through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In 2021 I became board certified by the American Association for Drugless Practitioners. This deep interest and desire to learn everything about the optimal functioning of the human body and help others reclaim their health continued with my successful completion of the rigorous Nutritional Therapy Practitioner program in August 2023.

 

In 2021, I launched my wellness practice Healthfully Ekat to help you find, restore and maintain your individual healthful balance in order to live a more fulfilling life during & beyond the work hours.

Through my long journey to healing, I have become the practitioner I needed by my side back then to reach my goal of reclaiming my vibrant health. Now, my objective is to support, educate and teach YOU how to harness the power of properly prepared nutrient dense whole foods, lifestyle changes and supplements if necessary to facilitate deep healing and optimize your health.

After all these years in finance, I have come to realize this:
